Cost of Living in Colombia

Throughout my Journey as a Travel Creator I have to keep track of my expenses and not spend over my monthly budget. In this video we go over my monthly expenses of March 2022 ,showing and breaking down how much it takes to travel through this country. Just a heads up my expenses may be different from yours, I am traveling on a budget.

The topics I cover

  • BDGT APP

Before using this app I was documenting my expenses manually in my notes MANUALLY, taking up a-lot of time and energy that can be used towards other important things. The BDGT App is perfect for keeping track of every expenses, I used this app for the second half of my 1 year trip around the world. Inserting expenses from food, transportation, hotel and many more. At the end the month when I gather my expenses I calculate in total the amount of money I spend per country creating videos like this.

  • Accommodation

During any trip spending on accommodation whether it be Hostels, Hotels, Luxury Villas and more, will always be your most expensive bill. Because of the friendships and connections I have in Colombia I had the pleasure of staying with a friend during my time in Colombia not spending ANYTHING which help me saved Tons of my money on my travels.

  • Food

I talk about the spending food and how cheap it is to buy groceries to save rather than spending alot of money on fast food. Even buying fast food all the time is breaking your bank but because it is cheap in Colombia, I expressed the options I had in regards to buying food.

  • Transportation

Theres a couple ways to get around the city of Bogota, the city of Bogota is Huge! Its the Size of the 3 Medellins, getting around isn’t as easy as it seems. The best tool for getting around was their Transmilenio which is their bus/train routes, not the safest to ride at night. They have Uber which is very economic and motor cycle app which is best for getting through traffic.

  • Other

This category of expenses is just everything spent that doesn’t fall into the first 3 category’s.The expense came out a little high because I spent it on clothes, if you’re not aware Bogota is incredibly COLD and it rains alot. The clothes I had prepped for was for summer time and beach vibes all day. Other expenses went on little things like toothpaste, body soap and more.

  • and The Total

I calculate to total cost of EVERYTHING I spent, showing if I broke my threshold or not determining if this country is suitable to live or not.
